چکیده

In this paper we describe a novel approach for introducing true material selectivity as a fourth dimension into cone-beam CT (CBCT) imaging by integrating means for energy-dispersive X-ray diffraction (EDXRD) measurements into the system. In order to minimize the acquisition time for the diffraction data, a compressed sensing reconstruction scheme requiring only a dilute set of projections was developed. The ‘basis’ vectors, enabling a sparse representation of the spatial material distribution, are derived from the conventional CT image data set. Thereby a priori information from CBCT is effectively utilized for reduction of measurement time in the diffraction scan. To demonstrate the capability of our method, visualizing the local charge distribution inside a commercially available Li-ion Battery was chosen as an example.

The Application of Beam Hardening Correction for Industrial X-ray Computed Tomography

X-ray computed tomography (CT) is a non-destructive, radiographic scanning technique that enables the visualisation of both the internal geometry and the composition of a workpiece; X-ray CT is therefore well suited for non-destructive inspection tasks. Several physical processes reduce the quality of CT images, and therefore influence both qualitative and quantitative analyses made from CT dat...

Evaluation of the gray level in CBCT systems and its relationship with HU in CT Scanners

Introduction: Cone-beam CT (CBCT) is an imaging system which offers three-dimensional (3D), multiplanar images and has many advantages over computed tomography (CT) including shorter acquisition times for the resolution desired in dentistry, lower radiation dose to the patient, reasonable price and higher spatial resolution but CBCT scanners are unable to display actual Hounsf...

Comparison of phase contrast X-ray computed tomography methods for non-destructive testing of materials

Currently the basis for standard X-ray computed tomography (CT) is absorption. A volumetric map of a specimen in three dimensions is generated from a set of absorption radiographs. The contrast of details strongly depends on a difference in absorption coefficient between the detail and the environment. However, when the absorption difference is low, sufficient contrast for a good quality X-ray ...

Evaluation of a Physical Based Approach of Scattered Radiation Correction in Cone Beam CT for Non-Destructive Testing Applications

Cone Beam Computerized Tomography (CBCT) enables threedimensional imaging with isotropic resolution. X-ray scatter management is a challenging task for quantitative CBCT imaging : scattered radiation level is significantly high on cone beam systems compared to collimated fan beam systems. The effects of this scattered radiation are cupping artifacts, streaks, and quantification inaccuracies. At...

Non - Destructive 3 D X - Ray Microscopy to Complement Physical Cross - Section in the Failure Analysis and Package Development Workflows

This tutorial will describe the novel technique of using leading-edge 3D X-Ray Microscopy (XRM) technology to complement physical cross-section in Failure Analysis (FA) and 3DIC package development workflows. Contrary to popular believe that “3D X-Ray” is too slow, we explain how XRM, a new 3D X-Ray variant technique differs from conventional 3D X-Ray Micro Computed Tomography (MicroCT), and ca...
